About Us

More Than Your Local Brewery

Our brewmaster Joe Magers is passionate (and maybe a little obsessed) about making everything just right with the recipes he’s brewed up himself, drawing on his background in chemistry and sometimes even using ancient Viking brewing traditions and herbs. The results are amazing brews you’d never have expected and keep you coming back for more.

Warm & Welcoming

We invite you to come to Longship Brewing to relax and have a good time, and we’ve thoughtfully remodeled our space for exactly that. We’ve modernized the brewery to boast state-of-the-art equipment while keeping tanks and other items that connect us to the past.

The History Of Longship Brewing Company

Built in the 1870’s, our building has been an important part of the community in Lawton. The building was opened as a tailor shop, and has seen many faces across nearly 150 years, including a grocery store, butcher shop, hardware store, restaurant, apartments, pharmacist, and since 1993, a brewery. The tradition of beer brewing at 114 N Main St began with Dusters Micro Brewery, who installed much of the heart of the brewing equipment in use today, as well as instilled the warm atmosphere of copper and wood that we still celebrate. Upon the closure of Dusters, Larry Bell of Bell’s Brewery took ownership in the late 1990’s, operating under the name Old Hat.
This began a new period of beer in Lawton, and continued under various owners for many years. The era of Old Hat solidified in the minds of Lawton citizens that this address would be defined and renowned as a craft brewery. Following a long run of business for Old Hat, the building sat empty for a few years. After briefly sitting vacant, and with lots of work done to renovate, Barn Brewers opened at the site in 2015.
Lawton once again had its own, dedicated brewery, and Barn Brewers gained the support and admiration of Lawton citizens. They operated with gusto for nearly 8 years. Upon the decision of Barn Brewers to close in August of 2022, Longship Brewing Company purchased the brewery building and equipment at 114 N Main St, paving the way for a new generation of beer brewing in Lawton.
With extensive renovation and restoration, Longship Brewing Company opens its doors in 2023, entering a new saga of Lawton beer history. We’re passionate about what we brew and cook, and can not wait for Lawton to enjoy what we bring to the table. Our determination to create amazing flavor pairings is fueled by a passionate attention to detail.
